The Board of Directors (BOD) of the Association of Companion Animal Behavior Counselors, Inc. held an online virtual conference board meeting on April 21, 2002. The following are highlights from the meeting; A motion was made, seconded, and carried unanimously to elect Roger Abrantes PhD as the Associations first President. This will be for a two year term.
The Board of Professional Certification (BOPC) committee is preparing an application process for prospective educational institutions and programs to possibly become Approved Providers for the Association. The BOPC is currently certifying in the area of domestic canine species only, but is working with educational institutions and veterinarians to develop coursework for feline, equine and aviary specialties for future consideration for behavior specialist credentialing.
The Board of Directors agreed upon formation of the following committees that will attend and report to the BOD at regular meeting;
- Ethics
- Certification (BOPC)
- Membership
- Member Communications
- Conference Educational
- Public Relations and Information
- Some of these committees are partially staffed.
The Board of Directors will hold a meeting within the next few months to develop a two year agenda for the Association. The meeting will be held in New York City. The outcome of the meeting will be published in a future issue of the newsletter.
