Since 2001, The Association of Companion Animal Behavior Counselors has been serving individuals currently involved or interested in the field of applied companion animal behavior! Professional membership is for behavior counselors including those working or interested in research, education, animal behavior and learning theory, medical and behavioral health, husbandry, shelter management, breeding and training. Other levels such as Individual and student levels are for non-practicing, animal science professionals and for individuals interested in the field of animal science, and students studying companion animal behavior of applied animal sciences respectively.

ACABC is an international, not-for-profit organization of peers interested in or working in the field of applied companion animal behavior. Membership in the Association of Companion Animal Behavior Counselors is the nation's most widely recognized symbol of competency for animal behavior professionals.
